Why Thorpe Park Feels Different After Dark
Daylight shows you every twist before you reach it. After dark, the track disappears into the black and the ride keeps its secrets until the last second.
That's the magic of riding in the dark. A coaster you've conquered a dozen times feels brand new when you can't see the drop coming.
Even the atmosphere walking around the park is different in the dark. With rides open beyond dusk until 9pm, ride towers glitter above to create a buzz you simply don't get at midday.
The Rides To Experience in the Dark
These legendary Thorpe Park rides take on a new level of thrilling after nightfall.
Hyperia
Hyperia towers 236ft above the park and tops 80mph. Now take away the daylight. You crest the lift hill into the black, with nothing to judge the drop but your racing heart.
Then the ground vanishes. Expect a world’s-first twist and more weightless moments than any other coaster in the UK, all in the dark. You’ll feel every one before you see it.
Stealth
Stealth is the UK’s fastest accelerator coaster, and it doesn’t ease you in. In 1.8 seconds you’re doing 80mph. And in the dark there’s no build-up to watch and nothing to brace against. A ride called Stealth was always going to suit the night.
The Swarm
The Swarm is the UK's first winged rollercoaster, so you sit either side of the track with nothing above or below. Hold on tight as you narrowly swerve through the destruction around you.
In daylight that destruction looks dramatic. After dark, the wreckage rushes out of the black and everything feels a whole lot closer. Take on The Swarm if you dare.
Saw - The Ride
Saw - The Ride is the world’s first horror movie themed coaster, and it feels made for the dark. The finale is a 100ft plunge down a beyond vertical 100° drop.
Prepare for the themed entrance to get under your skin first. Then hold on tight, because the drop won’t wait for you to be ready.
Ghost Train: Thorpe Park's Dedicated Dark Ride
Not every after-dark thrill is about speed. Ghost Train is our dedicated indoor dark ride, and it takes you somewhere far darker than any rollercoaster.
Live actors and multi-sensory special effects drive the story around you. Depart the mortal world on a one-way ticket beyond the veil, but watch your tracks, because death is always one stop ahead. If spooky rides are your thing, make sure you experience this one at Fright Nights.
Experience Thorpe Park After Dark During Fright Nights
