Your Fright Nights Survival Checklist
If Fright Nights is on your Halloween bucket list, don’t waste time by forgetting the basics. Our simple Halloween hacks will help you get through the night hassle-free so you can soak up the scares:
-
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with good grip for dark maze floors and busy walkways.
-
Bring a light jacket or extra layer for cooler evenings, even if the day starts mild.
-
Bring a portable phone charger, so you can check wait times on the app all night.
-
Don’t forget cash or a contactless card for last-minute food and drink.
-
Have pre-booked tickets, scare maze tickets and Fastrack (if you're using it) saved to your phone or printed out and ready to use.
-
Bring a torch app or small keyring torch for finding your way around outdoor scare zones.
-
Have a plan for getting home, especially after a late finish.
-
Download a park map, so you're not relying on mobile signals.
First Time at Fright Nights? Read This First
First time and don’t know how scary Fright Nights is? Don’t worry, a few nerves before your first scare maze are completely normal.
Our Halloween horror nights are designed for fun and thrills (no tears here), so here’s what to expect when darkness sets in:
-
The ‘Touch Rule’: scare actors will get inches from your face, but they won’t touch you.
-
Scare zones vs mazes: scare zones are open-air, walk-through areas included with your standard entry ticket with roaming live actors. Scare mazes are separate, enclosed, ticketed attractions for the biggest thrills-and-chills seekers.
-
The Chicken-Out Rule: every maze has emergency exit points, so if it gets too much, you can leave at any stage.
-
No-Scare Lanyards: You can purchase a “no-scare lanyard” on the day from Guest Services (subject to availability), which lets roaming actors know you prefer not to be startled or approached in scare zones . Please note, these do not apply inside paid scare mazes.
The Ultimate Fright Nights Timed Itinerary
Fright Nights at Thorpe Park is one of the biggest scare attractions UK theme parks have to offer, and definitely one for the Halloween bucket list. For the ultimate night of heart-pounding horrors, this plan helps you make the most of our scare events, without losing half the night to peak-time waits.
Mid-Morning or Early Afternoon Arrival (10:00am or 1:00pm)
Arriving at 10:00am or 1:00pm, rather than mid-afternoon, gets you ahead of the peak traffic and leaves a proper buffer to ride the big coasters before the scare mazes open for the night.
Daylight Hours: Coasters and Classic Rides
Use the daylight hours to tick off the big rides before the mazes take over. Blast through Hyperia, the UK's tallest and fastest coaster, then hit Stealth and The Swarm for a full adrenaline warm-up. For a taste of the night ahead, don't miss SAW – The Ride, the world's first horror movie themed rollercoaster.
Insider hack: last entry for coasters often falls right at 9:00pm, so pencil in your final ride by 8:15pm to avoid missing out.
As the Sun Sets: Scare Zones Open
Once dusk hits, the open-air scare zones come alive. They're included with your standard ticket and set the tone for the night ahead. Walk through as many as you can before the mazes open.
After Dark: Scare Mazes and Night Rides
As the fear factor keeps on rising, look out for Tenement, the brand-new scare maze joining the line-up for 2026. Face the terrifying task in the dark and make your way through an abandoned tenement where the tenants have long since left… Or have they? If that's not enough to bring on a cold sweat, step into Fright Nights fan favourites Stitches, Survival Games, Trailers and DeadBeat. For ultimate thrills, double up the scare events and ride a selection of your favourite coasters in the dark.
Pro Hacks: How To Beat the Queues
Maximise your frights with a few smart habits to make the most of your horror nights out this Halloween:
-
Use the official app for live wait times and head straight for the shortest one.
-
Work backwards through the park from the far side, since most guests cluster near the entrance first.
-
Single rider access gives you a faster way onto some of the best Halloween scare attractions on offer.
-
If time matters more than budget, Fastrack is the ultimate hack and lets you fit in more scare events and rides in the same night.
Make a Night of It: Where To Stay
Get more out of Fright Nights Halloween scare attractions and book a Halloween Short Break. Bundle together on-site Thorpe Shark Cabins or a nearby hotel with park entry so you can stay at the heart of spine-chilling excitement and avoid the terrifying late-night drive home.
